A 12" supplemental irrigation well is 100' deep and can pump 500 gpm. The domestic well is 50" deep with a 1/2 hp sub. pump, booster pump and a 1,700 gal storage tank. This well serves both houses and all the drinkers.The state has grandfathered it and allocated 3.3 acre feet.
Two ponds 15 feet deep hold river water supplied via the Pleasanton Eastside Ditch Asssoc main ditch, which crosses the property. The ponds are home to turtles, frogs, crawdads, gila trout, bluegill and bass. Blue heron, kingfishers, ducks, sandhilll cranes, hawks and eagles also visit.
Ditch maintenance dues are $1,410 a year. The river water comes from a diversion dam approx. one mile north and returns to the river just past the farm. The association's irrigation schedule provides a full ditch to this farm every 10 days for 50 hours.
This river has not run dry in 20 years. Pictured above after summer rains, it runs along the west side of the farm. In 2013, floodwaters topped the farm's berm and spread river silt across part of one pasture.
